Workshop themes will be organised as a progression over the 3 days :

Day 1: Momentum* - Mark will teach "momentum" material (via lindy, wcs, zouk), to get people to a baseline competency of using their momentum, turning down the line, and frame

Day 2: Smooth Stepping** - Mark will teach   "smooth stepping" material  (via tango, ballroomin' blues, kiz), to get people to a baseline competency of contrabody movement, walking together, and close embrace

Day 3: Putting it all together - Mark will propose "fun" classes building off of the material taught the previous days. Vocabulary, technique, and concepts you would not have all been able to grasp beforehand

Alexandra Karsenty (Fr - Toulouse)

Professional dancer since 2004, choreographer and director, Alexandra has been passionate about dance for 30 years! Very quickly integrated into international festivals which offer her to teach fundamental techniques for dancers from any horizons, she continues to train herself and meet new dances, and communities of dancers. Graduated from the Center National de la Danse de Lyon in contemporary since 2007, in Society Dances in 2012 (monitoring IFDS-Toulouse), and in Dance Blues in 2020 (Professorat Bluemove BCN-Barcelona), her career between theater, circus, puppetry, Afro-contemporary, urban, swing, blues and Afro-Latin dances, imbues its classes with a multidisciplinary artistic dimension. Playful research, quality of movement, and musicality are associated with her dynamism and good humor, while remaining attentive to everyone's needs.

Eila Galan  (SP-Catalunya-Barcelona)

Eila has always danced since she was child. She has a great passion for dance and she is a music lover, which has made her move through styles such as hip hop, belly dance, contemporary dance, Afro-contemporary . She is also a fan of all swing culture dances; Lindy hop, blues and jazz steps, and of course the fusion scene because we share movements and music coming from different communities and background.

She fell in love with the creativity, improvisation and the connection that these couple dances offer, as a natural complement of her solo dance extensive knowledge

She likes the constant search for body knowledge and movement and dialogue with the other dancers on the floor. She has been fortunate to meet very good teachers with good pedagogy that she also tries to transmit in her classes.  She is part of Alina Sokulska's company Giant steps among other projects. She teaches regularly in different schools in Barcelona and is an organizer of some of the Barcelona scene's events.
